Although G Herbo did briefly go to Hyde Park Academy High School, he dropped out at the age of sixteen to make his career in Music. He started off as Lil Herb and signed with fellow Chicago rapper Lil Bibby under Machine Entertainment Group to release some of the tracks in the 2012 “Kill Shit” project, which became popular through the drilling scene. G Herbo’s popularity soared due to these collaborations.
The debut mixtape Welcome to Fazoland (2014) by G Herbo, dedicated to his dead friend Fazon Robinson, displayed the emotionally vulnerable and gritty side of Chicago that comes to him naturally in his songs. Albums that followed, like Pistol P Project (2014) and Ballin Like I’m Kobe (2015) continued that trend and made G Herbo a bigger name.
