Marie Berry, Founder of YVO Warrior

What’s a daily ritual that brings you clarity or grounding?

My mornings are everything. Most mornings I wake up before the kids so I can meditate or journal (just ten quiet minutes to land in my own body before the day starts). Then it’s breakfast with my family, and my husband and I have a little gratitude ritual where we each say three things we’re grateful for (sounds cheesy but works to set the tone (have been doing this for years now). After school drop-off, I ruck or get another workout in, and finish with a sauna – it sets the tone for the whole day.

What’s a belief or idea you’ve had to unlearn in order to grow?

For a long time, I was very “free-flow”. I’d jump on every opportunity because I didn’t want to miss anything. I thought spontaneity was the magic, but I’ve learned that structure and consistency actually create way more space for real growth. Freedom comes from discipline…I had to learn that the slow way (and from my husband who’s way better in consistency).

Tell us about a specific moment that led to a personal or professional turning point.

A couple of years ago, I learned that my bone health wasn’t where it should be for someone my age. It was a reality check – it made me rethink how I was moving, aging, and taking care of myself. That moment nudged me toward rucking, toward taking my health more seriously, and ultimately toward building something bigger for women like me.

How do you think about success now, compared to earlier in your career?

In my 20s and 30s, success was velocity: new titles, new companies, bigger rooms. Now, success is alignment and freedom. It’s doing work that feels true to who I am – reducing the outside noise and following the inner whisper. I no longer chase the next milestone. I build toward the next chapter.

What’s something you’re building—or dreaming of building—that doesn’t exist yet?

I want to make bone health…sexy. I don’t want to use anything called “Osteo-something” or that screams medical device. I want women to support their health without sacrificing style, culture, or identity. I’m building a world where strength, beauty, movement, and wellness coexist – and where taking care of yourself feels aspirational, not clinical.

What inspired you to launch YVO—and how did your own journey shape its mission?

YVO began with a wake-up call around my own bone health, but the mission is rooted in something deeper. Over the last few years, I’ve been reconnecting with my indigenous roots – learning about the symbols of strength, the warrior women, the resilience, and the generational power that’s part of my heritage. That energy informs the brand in a very real way.

I wanted gear that supports women in midlife, honors our strength, and feels beautiful enough that we actually want to wear it, not clinical or “Osteo-something,” but intentional, stylish, and functional. My own journey showed me that midlife isn’t a slowdown; it’s a rising. YVO exists to meet women right at that moment.
