Samsung One UI 8.5 is the version of Samsungs special Android skin. It builds on what Samsung did with One UI 8. Adds better artificial intelligence, nicer looks and easier use. This new version was tested in 2025 and came out with the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026. It is based on Android 16. Has all the updates from QPR2. Samsung One UI 8.5 focuses on making Galaxy intelligence a bigger part of the experience making the interface more fun to use and customizable and adding stronger privacy features. All of this is done while keeping the design that Samsung is known for.
The update has a design style that people are calling “Ambient Design”. This means that the icons for Samsungs apps now have subtle 3D effects, which makes them look more modern. The navigation and status bars are now easier to use and hide when you are scrolling so you can see more of what’s on your screen. The Quick Panel has been improved a lot. You can now customize it however you want. You can change the layout of the toggles and sliders. Add new controls. All of these changes make the experience of using Samsung One UI 8.5 feel smoother and more polished.
One of the things about Samsung One UI 8.5 is the new artificial intelligence features. The Photo Assist feature is really cool because it lets you keep editing a picture without having to save it all the time. You can also see a history of all the changes you made to the picture. There are new features like Now Nudge, which gives you suggestions based on what you are doing and Quick Share, which can automatically share photos with your friends. Samsungs artificial intelligence assistant, Bixby is also better at having conversations with you. The system uses intelligence to help you be more productive and to make your experience more personal. You can even share files with other devices using Quick Share.
Samsung has also made some changes to security and privacy. Samsung One UI 8.5 has controls over your settings and features like Theft Protection. You can now see what is happening with your data across all of your Galaxy devices, which’s something that Samsung has been focusing on. The Settings app is also easier to use and less cluttered. You can customize your lock screen and share things with your family more easily.
The beta test for Samsung One UI 8.5 started in December 2025 with the Galaxy S25 series. It has since been available for other devices like the Galaxy S24 series Z Fold and Flip 6 and 7 models and some A-series phones like the Galaxy A36 5G. The final version of Samsung One UI 8.5 came out with the Galaxy S26 series. It will be available for other devices throughout 2026. Most devices that can run One UI 8 should be able to get Samsung One UI 8.5. It depends on the device.
