David Raya is a Spanish football player who has the position of a goalkeeper and currently is a goalkeeper at Arsenal in the Premier League and also represents the Spain national team. A lot of people think that he is a great goalkeeper so he deserves the title of one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He is Mainly good at stopping shots, has a great presence on the pitch by commanding his area, and has quite a decent ability when he plays with his feet to distribute the ball to other teammates.
Spain’s Barcelona is known as the birthplace of Raya who came into this world on 1995’s 15th September. He is 1.86 meters which translates to 6 ft 1 in the imperial units, and is right-footed. In his early years, he played for Cornell youth before transferring to Blackburn Rovers in 2012. In Blackburn academy he graduated and he was called up for the senior team. He was exposed to a number of English leagues and got the chance to play in loan spells in Southport and Stevenage for gaining experience. Raya got his big break when he joined Brentford at the end of 2019. The club’s promotion from Championship through the playoffs in 2020-21 came about a big part of it thanks to Raya. In the Premier League, he soon became recognized to be one of the goalkeepers as he won the top save award and has the highest percentages in the 2022, 23 campaign.
Arsenal signed Raya initially as a part of loan and the deal soon became a permanent one. At Arteta’s side, Raya continues to thrive in the North London club. He has won the Premier League Golden Glove award on several occasions including a win this season (2023, 24), shared with another player in the 2024, 25 campaign, and another one on its own in 2025, 26. Raya also played an important part in Arsenal winning their first-ever Premier League title in 2026. After a few appearances for different teams in Spain, in the year 2022, Raya made his Spain debut. Since then, he has gained about 15 caps and has been an absolute gem for the national team as evidenced by their UEFA Nations League (2022-23) win. His appearances are also planned to be at some of the other major championships like the 2024 UEFA European Championship in Germany where Spain has been drawn with Portugal, Switzerland and Turkey in the Group Stage and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a global sports event taking place in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
Outside the field, Raya is still very young but already married as he became husband of Tatian Trouboul in July 2025. A very professional and calm figure, Raya has gradually established himself as an unwavering presence at Arsenal back line and has proven himself indispensable in the international successes by Spain. His record as a player speaks for the consistency of his performance at the highest level: hundreds of Premier League minutes under her belt, lots of clean sheets, and a high number of great saves per game and over all.
From playing in the smaller teams on lower English grounds, David Raya’s story tells of his rising to be a champion on the world stage and to win the Premier League.
