Early Life & Education

GloRilla was born and raised in North Memphis’ neighborhood of the Frayser. She was the eighth of ten children brought up by deeply religious parents and a strict Christian household, and was homeschooled until she entered public school in fifth grade.

She eventually went to Melrose High School (another sites to Martin Luther King Jr. College Preparatory High School), and also sung as part of the church choir while still aiming for a career as a singer until she lost her singing voice and turned to rapping, when she was 16, drawing most early influence from Chief Keef and Memphis street culture, in general.

She first released her debut mixtape Most Likely Up Next in 2019. She then released her EP P Status in 2020. Her breakthrough success came in 2022 with her single “F.N.

F. (Let’s Go)” (with Hitkidd). This gained a commercial success and led to her receiving a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Performance. She was then signed to Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group (CMG) and Interscope.

Her next singles “Tomorrow 2” with Cardi B (which became a Top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100) “Blessed” followed. Her debut EP Anyways, Life’s Great (2022) reached No.11 on the Billboard 200. In 2024 she released the mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang and her debut studio album Glorious reaching No.
